Still in Love: Valentines for Black Heritage Sites We Love

In the midst of chaos, we still need to take a break, to take care of ourselves, and “preserve the preservationist,” as our founder k. kennedy Whiters says. And so …

For our second year in a row, Black in Historic Preservation (BiHP) Presents:

“Still in Love”: a Virtual Valentine’s Day + Black History Month Celebration for the Black Heritage Sites We Love

Did Burt Bacharach and Hal David envision a house missing the people who lived in it when they penned the song, “A House Is Not a Home,” sung by Luther Vandross in 1981? Maybe 🤷🏽‍♀️

Still claiming “A House Is Not a Home” as a preservation-conservation anthem? Yes … yes we are 🤗

This Valentine’s Day, let’s shower Black Heritage sites with love, those with us in physical form, and those with us in spirit, by writing a love note to them, a Valentine.

Share your love note, and Black in Historic Preservation will post it on our social channels. Accepting love notes now until 7:00pm EST on Mon., Feb. 23.
